My Morning Routine for a Healthy Lifestyle






Evening everyone & Happy Tuesday!


I wanted to talk a little about my new morning routine and how it's helped me day to day so hopefully it'll help or inspire one of you to implement a new aspect into your morning routine to increase your healthy lifestyle.


My new morning routine involves a 30-60 minute walk first thing, before the rest of the world wakes up. I love getting out, moving my body and taking some time for me before I do anything else in the day.


BENEFITS OF A MORNING WALK


• Increase my NEAT


* you burn 15% of your daily calorie expenditure through NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis; basically all movement in the day that isn’t a gym session) and 5% during EAT (exercise activity thermogenesis; your gym session), if that’s not a reason to get moving more throughout the day I don’t know what is!*


• Improves my mood

• Wakes up my mind & body

• Calms my mind & allows me to think

• Consider priorities for the day

• Educate and/or inspire myself though a poddy (my faves are @fairpointspodcast, @thehealthcode & @rawandreal.podcast)

• & I get to enjoy beautiful & peaceful sunrises like this one 😍




HOW DO I GET UP & OUT EARLY?


So many people find it shocking how I walk early each morning but it's just part of my routine and honestly, I couldn't imagine not doing it!


• Routine & habit! If you do someone often enough it’s hard to image what like was like before

• Sleep! Getting to bed on time & getting enough sleep is key to my body clock remaining consistent each day and having enough energy to get up & out

• Motivation & priorities. I work in an office and even though I’m up from my desk a lot I still don’t move as often as I should during the day & im aware of the affect that has on my body so I put habits and routine in place to ensure I reach my goals everyday.

• Plus, I enjoy it. It’s not hard to do something that you enjoy!

It overall sets my day up in a positive way, I really notice a difference in my mood and energy throughout the day if Im late to bed, miss my walk & don’t get enough sleep.
